When you report a person by telephone to Meldpunt Bezorgd?, the staff members set to work.
Step 1 Home visit
Sometimes an advice to the reporting person suffices, but in many cases the staff member of the Centre will set off to investigate. The staff member pays the reported person a home visit and tries to make contact. This usually takes some time, sometimes a few months. People in alarming situations often have little confidence themselves in the chance of assistance being successful. They are afraid to loose their independence and have bad experiences with assistance providers. They sometimes are critical, anxious or suspicious. Previous attempts to structurally change situations were not successful. Meldpunt Bezorgd? considers it important to win the client’s trust, stand by him/her and actively think along.
Step 2 Contact with organisations
Meldpunt Bezorgd? lists the problems. With the consent of the person involved the staff members ask organisations if the reported person is known and what the problems are. The Centre has to operate in various fields. Various organisations may be involved in this. Such as GGZ, Budget shop, Social work, STOED (budget counselling), housing corporations, GP and police.
Step 3 Establishing core problems
Based on gathered information, the Centre determines the core problem and contacts the organisation involved. If there already was contact with a certain assistance agency before the report, this agency will be approached.
Step 4 Coordination of assistance
Meldpunt Bezorgd? sets up the coordinated assistance and then hands it over to the organisation that treats the core problems. During the entire process, the former will follow the situation in the background. The coordination is handled by the organisation in charge. This organisation reports back to the Centre.
Step 5 Feedback to reporting person
If you reported an alarming situation, Meldpunt Bezorgd? may inform you to a certain extent of the investigation. In doing so, it will take the privacy regulations of assistance agencies and the wishes of the reported person into account.
